So, a week ago I was invited to Winter Formals at the Cap and Gown eating club.
Princeton people are beautiful. Yeah, they study a lot, but when it’s time to dress up and get drunk, they bring it — especially when the occasion calls for formal attire.
I wish I’d taken more photos but it got too clunky and awkward to balance a drink, a handbag and an SLR camera (a lot of handbag in between thigh action had to happen — as you can tell, I was not one of the more graceful people to shine at that event). But here are some photos that I did manage to take:
I love Shreya’s outfit and style — she’s pulling off both shiny and animal print and looking seriously classy.
Classic jewel toned dress for the winter season!
Pictured above:
I (left) was wearing a red bodycon dress with black mesh cutouts from Asos, black patterned tights and (not pictured) black peep-toe pumps. The necklace is the Oceanic Light Siam Pendant from Swarovski, which was probably one of the biggest impulse buys I ever made — I was stuck at the airport at Frankfurt because of the European snowstorms last winter and decided that only the biggest, sparkliest, reddest bauble would cheer me up after queuing for 8 hours to rebook my tickets.
In this outfit, it was the one piece of jewelry (not counting studs in my ears) that I let myself wear with a strapless dress. Trial and error has made me realized that over-accessorizing a strapless dress ends up being just ugly — the dress is supposed to show off your collarbones, better use bronzer to angle them and a highlighter to bring them out, rather than obscuring everything with a ton of metal. Tien (to my right) likewise is only wearing a small necklace, going for larger earrings.
Asians in red! And both of us went with winged cat’s eye eyeliner for the night. Beyond looking old-school Hollywood glam, it also makes eyes look larger.
Red lipstick! Though probably too dark/purple to be a good match for the dress.
I was going for a retro look, hence the colour-blockiness.
Stay classy!
